Summer Beach Essentials

Hello hello! Happy hump day everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. We went to the beach as you do in Florida and it was a perfect day. Being a Floridian going to the beach is something that happens quite often. I’ve grown up spending weekends at the beach or on the river so I’ve learned a few essential items to bring along the way. Check out my summer beach essentials below!

1. Sunscreen: I can’t stress the importance of this enough. When I was young I hated putting sunscreen on and would come home miserable and looking like a tomato. Now I am probably a little obsessive with it. I use the Neutrogena Beach Defense SPF 70 and apply it once an hour to ensure I am protected from the sun.

2:Sunglasses: These are a must for the beach. In Florida the sun can be super harsh and can be hard on your eyes. Sunglasses are needed especially if you will be at the beach for an extended amount of time. I think Forever 21 has some of the cutest and most inexpensive sunglasses out there.

3. A cute bathing suite: Okay this might sound a little dumb but I feel like its so much easier to enjoy yourself at the beach when you have bathing suite that makes you feel good and confident about yourself. I am currently in love with the one I have on. Its from Cotton On and is also affordable. Check it out here.

4. A Book: Its so relaxing to sit on the beach and read a good book. I am currently reading the Out from Egypt series. I can’t rave enough about these books. They suck you in and you never want to stop reading.

5. Small wristlet or pouch: I usually bring an empty Ipsy bag that way I can keep my phone, wallet, and keys without them falling to the bottom of my beach bag. It makes it way easier to find.

6. Massive Beach Towel or Beach Chair: While at the beach you are going to want something to sit in beside the sand. A big beach towel works great or if you prefer a chair you can easily find an inexpensive beach chair.

7. Water: It gets extremely hot in the summer and that makes it easy to get dehydrated. So while at the beach make sure you are drinking a lot of water!

Empowerment Sunday: Samantha Virella

I have had on my heart for a while to start a blog series all about women who inspire, empower, and are all around girl bosses. My vision is through this, other ladies can relate and feel empowered to follow their dreams. When deciding who my first interview would be I instantly knew I wanted it to be Samantha Virella.

I met Samantha about six months ago, and we instantly hit it off. She is possibly the sweetest person you will ever meet but when you get to know her there is so much more than that. When I think of Samantha the word empowerment comes to mind. I constantly see her pouring into other women and ministering to their hearts. She recently became a Refit fitness instructor and her classes are all about empowering other women. She is also a wonderful wife and has four beautiful kids. I am so excited to share my first Empowerment Sunday post with you!

Q: 3 words that you would use to describe yourself?

A: Passionate, Loyal, and God-fearing. If we are being real a little messy.

Q: I know you are a Wife, Mom, and Refit instructor how do you manage to balance it all?

A: I don’t. I just keep going when it gets hard and God keeps me even when it’s hard to manage it all. When you’re a Mom it gets hard and taking time for me is important.

Q: What is Refit and why did you decide to get into it?

A: Refit Revolution is fitness for mind, body, and soul. Its faith inspired. It ministers to your heart physically and mentally. It was a God thing. I’ve been doing it online for 5 years and it has inspired and changed my life physically and mentally and I wanted to share it with others. It kind of chose me and I love it.

Q: Do you have any health-related goals for the New Year?

A: I haven’t made any goals except staying on this journey. My goal is no longer a number but to be just healthy and happy. I let go of losing a bunch of weight and just live a healthy and free life. I do want to lose a little more weight but it’s not a goal like it used to be. I became so focused on losing weight it overwhelmed me last year and I don’t want it to consume me like it was.

Q: Looking back what is one piece of advice you would give your younger self?

A: Honestly there is nothing to be afraid of when God is on your side. Fear used to hinder me so much and now I am no longer letting fear control me. My biggest obstacle was getting over fear.

Q: What would be your advice for those who are just starting a family?

A: Give yourself LOTS of grace to make mistakes and always be willing to learn more and pray a lot.

Q: What brings you the greatest satisfaction professionally?

A: Planning what the lord has put on my heart to share at the end of my classes. Organizing my playlist as well that’s fun!

Q: What brings you the greatest satisfaction personally?

A: Gods love for me.

Q: What is the best part of Motherhood?

A: There is so much! Even the hard times are worth it. I never knew I could love a person so much. It makes you understand more about Gods love for you.

Q: What’s your greatest indulgence?

A: A nice cheat meal is great. I just love food.

Q: What beauty product could you not live without and why?

A:Coconut oil. It removes makeup, moisturizes, nourishes your body. I just love it. Then eyebrows and mascara I don’t leave the house without doing those.

Q: Do you have a quote or bible verse you like to live by?

A: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7

Favorite quote is I’M ENOUGH!

My Goals for 2017

I can’t believe it’s already 2017 where has time gone. I am actually very excited for this year. I feel like its going to be great! This is the time of year where everyone sets goals for the themselves and I’ve never really set new years goals because most people never actually fulfill them. This year I decided I would set five goals and I wanted to share them. So here goes!

  1. Read my bible for at least 20 minutes everyday. Sometimes life gets so busy that its easy to forget to push aside spending time in the word when it is so important for spiritual health.
  2. Make more time for myself. This something that I am not very good at but I think its vital to take some time and do things that make you feel happy and relaxed. Some of those things for me are date nights, spending time with my girlfriends, relaxing baths, and writing for fun.
  3. Blog twice a week. I am so inconsistent with my blogging and this year I’ve decided to set myself a schedule.
  4. Go on a long walk twice a week. Walking is so good for you and can really help clear your mind.
  5. Book a vacation to Paris! This has been a long term goal for me and I’ve kind of made it my husbands to. I have been to Europe but I have never been to Paris and its always been a dream of mine. By the end of this year I would love to have a trip booked for the beginning of next year!

There are my five goals for 2017! I am so excited for these and I feel like they are actually obtainable. What are some of your goals for 2017?

O Christmas Tree

I love Christmas and I love Decorating for Christmas. Honestly I’ve been wanting to decorate since Halloween and today I finally got around to putting up my small tree. I love this tree. Is it perfect absolutely not but it describes me. When I look at it I see little pieces of myself. It’s early to decorate but honestly I don’t care. Why not start to have a little Christmas cheer. So today I warmed myself up some Apple Cider, put on Elvis Presley’s Christmas album, and started putting up my little tree. Happy decorating people!

Life Update

Where do I even start.. it’s been so long. Life has just become so crazy. A lot has changed in my life and that’s a good thing. As good as all of the change has been it’s also been stressful and busy. In the last months I started my fall semester, I went to Jamaica, my family took in a 3rd puppy, I got a new job and start in two weeks, and the biggest thing is I got engaged!! So wedding planning is in full swing at the moment but I am back and plan to focus on this more. I’ve decided that I will give myself the freedom to not just write about fashion and beauty but wedding planning, decorating a home, and whats on my heart etc… I’m very excited to start this blogging journey again.

A Little Note from My Heart: Dreams

I’ve been thinking so much lately about dreams and how to achieve certain dreams. If you’re like me then sometimes those dreams just seem unattainable. Or maybe you’ve had people tell you that you’ll never reach those dreams. I’m telling you that you can.

As a little girl I was constantly dreaming. One week I wanted to be a princess and the next a ballerina. As I got older I realized I was from Florida and would never be an actual princess and I was way to clumsy to ever be a ballerina so my dreams began to shift. I started dreaming of more practical things. As do most people.

A question to myself is why stop dreaming the impossible. No dream is to big or to small. Maybe your dream is travel world and that’s great. Or maybe your dream is to get married and have a family. That’s just as good of a dream. Sometimes I feel like people in general try to belittle other people’s dream. Just because it’s not your dream doesn’t mean it’s a bad dream to have. We’re all unique and special so why would we have the same dream?

I guess what I’m trying to say is dream on dreamer.

In Flight Travel Tips and Tricks: Christmas Edition

Christmas is right around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited! This is my favorite time of the year. I’m even more excited because very soon I will be headed to New York City for a girls trip. Obviously I’m taking an airplane so I thought I would give a few tips and tricks I’ve learned a long the way. I am in no way an expert but just a girl who has traveled a lot.

IMG_0113.JPG
1. Water and lots of it: This is so cliche but seriously water must be something you bring on the plane with you. It will keep you nice and hydrated throughout the plane ride. Remember that water is not allowed through security so you’ll have to wait until after to buy some.

2. Keep your carry-on light: This is something I’ve learned the hard way. Trying to carry a heavy bag through the gates and onto the plane and then through the aisles is a pain. Just pack what you need.

3. Bring hand sanitizer and use it often: There are so many germs around and you don’t want to get sick before your vacation even starts so use that hand sanitizer.

4. Hydrate your skin: This is super important because the air in the cabin is not humidified so it dries out your skin quickly. Bring moisturizer and eye cream onto the plane with you. The TSA approved amount is 3 fl oz which most moisturizers do not come in. You can pick up clear travel pots and tubes at Target or Walmart. Which makes it easy to bring it with you.

5. Dress comfortably: Make sure whatever you wear allows you to be able to move and sit comfortably. But remember comfortable doesn’t mean sloppy. You can still be stylish while being comfy.

6. A good nights sleep: There is nothing better for you when you fly then to get a good nights rest. It makes you feel ready for the day a head.

Hope you enjoyed my little list of travel tips and tricks! Anyone have any other suggestion feel free to leave them below in the comments! XOXO

Kiss Instawave Curler Review

I recently received this awesome new curler called Kiss Instawave. I absolutely love it so wanted to share it with all of you! This curler is fully automatic tangle free curler. It creates really beautiful soft curls. It makes getting curls hassle free. It’s super easy to use from any angle and it features a curl dial with right to left dial to achieve whatever kind of curl you want. If you’re like me I constantly forget to turn of my curler well with this one it automatically shots off after 90 minutes which is great! It has 2 heat setting low and high and the heat goes to 420. I prefer low because I like a natural soft curl. I really enjoy this curler and if your interested in trying it out I’ll leave a link below. XOXO

One Direction / 5SOS Concert

Yesterday my sister and I went to the One Direction Concert! This is our second time seeing them. The last time was their Up All Night Tour. It’s crazy to see how much their fan base has grown since then. It’s actually really cool going to that concert and now getting to see them again. So here’s our night!

IMG_8402-2.JPG
We left in the afternoon and getting there was an adventure. It was a two hour drive but we got stuck in heavy concert traffic. When we finally got there we got in line only to find I out we were in the wrong line. We walked the whole building because we needed wristbands for floor access. So we got inside and found our seats. My sister and I sat in the second row which was really cool because we’ve never been that close at a show before. We started talking to all the other fans around us and some of them are so funny.

IMG_8416-1.JPG The concert was a blast. They are so goofy especially Harry Styles. He had the funniest braids in his hair that we just laughed so hard about. My sister was waving at Luke Hemmings from 5SOS and he made a face at her which you will see below but the girls all around her started freaking out and they turned around and started screaming with her and jumping up and down it was so cute.
